I took a drastic move last night.
It was just time. I have things I want to do that don't involve popping cartoon balloons (Hello, Bloons Tower Defense 5 DELUXE!). I admit, it was fun to feel like I was accomplishing things - in fact, I had it down to the point where I could watch a TV show, play an internet game (one that had long stretches of waiting), and play another computer game at the same time - plus, I could have the washing machine, and the dishwasher, and the vacuum running! (Yes, we got a robot vacuum cleaner named Anita).
Now, what am I going to do while the clothes are drying? Sit on my hands and watch the blank TV screen?
I'm kidding. The fact is, I've been incredibly lazy for several years or longer. And here's a thought: Me cutting this stuff out of my life - it's not actually the solution to the problem. The problem is that I am the expert sinner. I'm lazy, and I lack self-control, and I'd rather accomplish shallow, easy things in fake worlds, than to accomplish difficult real-life goals for the kingdom.
So getting rid of Netflix and games will NOT cure my laziness! But it is a step toward obedience for me. And I feel so good about it. And I think someday I may be able to include them in my life again - once I've learned to live without them, anyway! =)
So look forward to more blog posts. I am going to get back on track with my social life. I'm going to read books again. My house might get clean and maybe even organized. I might start cooking more (or at least cooking ahead more). I might write a book or something. I don't know!
- I deleted all my internet game savefiles.
- I uninstalled my computer games.
- I had Joe disconnect Netflix from the Xbox. (We can still watch shows together but I won't watch them by myself)
- I logged out from Netflix on the computer (just as effective as Joe changing the password, since I can never remember his crazy complicated passwords anyway)

Good for you! As Alcott said once about such passtimes, "It will be like going from rasberry tarts to plain bread and butter but you'll save yourself from dyspepsia"....or something like that. Make a poem of each dear day. :)
