July 17, 2012: Traveling
Note: Many of the pictures in this blog series are taken from the internet, because we had our camera stolen halfway through the trip.
At 8 AM, Leo drives us to a van that taxis to Cuenca. We bought tickets a few days ago, and now we're all set. We say our goodbyes and settle down into a very comfortable 3 1/2 hour van ride. There's an English speaking family sitting behind us, with a baby who throws up all over her dad, poor thing.
In the Cuenca airport, we check in. I ask where our gate is, and the agent points around the corner. We sit on a bench for a while before we realize the gate is actually probably through a small side door marked "seguridad" or security.
We go through Cuenca airport security, board our plane, fly back to Quito, take a taxi to the guest house, and settle into our room. We plan to walk out to the mall for dinner but I just want to stay inside, so Joe goes out and gets us some junk food and we hole up and watch Independence Day.
